The Mild Procedure For Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

- Thursday, October 11, 2012

A specific lower back pain condition called lumbar spinal stenosis, is very common especially in aging Americans.  Common signs and symptoms of lumbar spinal stenosis include:

  • Pain or numbness in the lower back when standing upright
  • Pain, numbness or tingling in legs or buttocks when walking
  • Relieved discomfort when bending forward at the waist or sitting down

There is a new, effective procedure available today as an alternative to back surgery to treat lumbar spinal stenosis, called the mild© procedure.  If your doctor determines that you have LSS caused by excess ligament, then the mild procedure may be the best treatment for you.

The mild©  procedure is performed by a pain specialist who makes a tiny incision and uses small tools to go in and remove the excess ligament that is causing this type of lower back pain.  The procedure is usually a couple of hours and since only local anesthesia is used,  the patient goes home the same day.  Studies show that 79% of patients experience a significant reduction in pain and significant increase in mobility.

To find out if you’re a candidate for the mild© procedure, call The Franklin Pain and Wellness Center at (508) 507-8818 or e-mail staff@franklinpaincenter.com.
